Saraswati

The Saras Institute is named for Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of learning, knowledge, and wisdom. Goddess of speech and protectress of the arts, including music, dance, and, poetry, she is also credited with the invention of writing. Saraswati is associated with the river of the same name, on the banks of which sages are said to have developed language. She is goddess of that which flows, which includes speech, writing and thought. As the embodiment of speech, Saraswati is present wherever speech exists, and is associated with the best in human culture, including both the arts and rational communication. The symbol of the river also represents the crossing from ignorance to knowledge.
